True Spring is the original Spring season in the four seasons colour analysis and sits between Bright Spring and Light Spring on the seasonal flow chart.
Its opposite season is True Autumn. And in contrast to the latter, True Spring’s appearance is bright and fresh instead of earthy and muted.
I. Natural Appearance
The contrast of True Spring's natural appearance is medium. True Springs tend to have light and medium features, which creates a medium contrast in their appearance. But since the colouring of the True Spring features is quite saturated, the vibrancy of the colouring also creates contrast. The combination of these factors generally gives True Springs a fresh, saturated appearance.
A natural-looking make-up needs to repeat the level of contrast present in your natural appearance. For a True Spring, this means fresh and colourful looks. So remember, a natural look on you is a saturated look rather than a no make-up look.
Fortunately, the True Spring colour palette lends itself well to creating colourful make-up looks.
II. The Colour Palette

True Spring's primary colour aspect is warm, and its secondary aspect is bright.
Hue
Consistent with True Spring’s primary aspect, the palette sits at the warmest end of the hue scale. That means the colours contain yellow undertones but no blue ones. As a result, you will find very few shades of blue (which is the coolest colour of all) on the palette. And you will only see warmer shades of blue – such as turquoise, mint, or pastel blue – that contain a tint of yellow. Instead, there are more yellows, peachy pinks and warm greens that are naturally yellow-based.
Value
The colour palette is quite broad, but it is lighter in value because of the greater concentration of yellow undertones. There are no extremely dark colours on the palette. But you may find darker shades of blue or purple, which are supportive colours for the lighter tints.
Chroma
In line with True Spring’s secondary colour aspect, the colours are high in chroma. That means they are saturated and bright rather than faded.

III. Make-up Colours
True Spring make-up colours are taken from the same colour palette that is used for clothing.
Complexion Make-up
Complexion make-up includes foundation, concealers, and bronzers. These would typically be taken from the neutrals palette.
Foundation & Concealer
True Spring skin is warm with golden undertones. However, it's not possible to give recommendations on complexion make-up - such as foundation and concealer. These must be colour-matched to your individual skin. Generally, though, foundation and concealer are best when they are dewy, natural, creamy, radiant or sheer and yellow-based.
Avoid blue-based and pink-based foundations which have cool undertones and will clash with your naturally warm complexion. Also, stay away from matte, heavy, and 'dry' finishes since True Spring is bright not muted.
Bronzer & Highlighter
As a warm season, you can use bronzer. But be careful to select the right one. It should be Spring-fresh, not Autumn-rich. The latter will look dull and heavy on you. Look for peachy and golden colours rather than burnt oranges.
In general, choose highlighting over contouring. The first adds light and lifts, which is in line with the characteristics of True Spring colours. But the latter adds depth, which is more appropriate for Autumns.
Eye Make-up
Eye make-up colours are also taken from the neutral area of the True Spring palette except for eyeshadow colours. Highlight eyeshadows come from the complementary and accent colours areas on the palette.
Eyeshadow
Neutral eyeshadow colours are the creams, beiges and browns on the palette.
For highlight and accent eyeshadow colours, opt for the brighter, more colourful colours on your palette. This might seem unintuitive at first, but these are the colours that will look very natural on you.
When you select eyeshadows, go for creamy consistencies and shimmer finishes.
Try to avoid matte eyeshadows. Remember True Spring is bright, not muted. Your appearance needs some glow and freshness.
Mascara
Black is too cool for a warm True Spring appearance. Your best mascara is instead a shade of dark, warm brown.
Eyeliner
Eyeliner colours are similar to mascara with the addition of some more colourful options. A helpful tip: choose an eyeliner colour similar to your eyes to bring them out.
Again, avoid black since it's too cool for you. Your darkest colour is brown.
Lip & Cheek Make-up
Blush and lip colours come from the red, peach and coral areas of the True Spring colour palette.
Blusher
Your perfect blush shade will depend on your individual complexion, so some trial and error will be required here.
But in general, choose peach-based blush. If you have darker skin, you can also even a light cocoa shade.
Make sure your blush has some shimmer and avoid matte finishes.
Lipstick
Your best lipstick colours are warm, of medium intensity and not too dark. The peaches are usually more nude lips, while the brighter oranges and corals make for a bold lip. Go for glossy, lustre, shiny or satin finishes.
But stay away from matte lipsticks. Those will dull your appearance. Also avoid cool colours - such as blue-based reds as well as overly bright or muted colours. All of these will clash with your complexion.
IV. Make-up Looks
Natural Looks
True Spring make-up is at its best when it's warm, fresh and glowing. A natural make-up look is one that will mimic the characteristics of your natural appearance. For a True Spring, this means warmth combined with freshness.
True Spring make-up is best when it's sunny, colourful and fresh. Try to incorporate one brighter colour into all of your make-up looks.

For a natural look, you can either forego the eyeshadow or use one of your neutral colours, and simply add some brown mascara to your lashes.
Dramatic Looks
For dramatic looks, the same principle as above applies. Keep your make-up glowing and colourful.
The best way to create a more dramatic look is by simply dipping into the more intense lipstick colours on your palette. Don't make your eyes the highlight of the face, make it your lips. This is where True Spring colours particularly shine.
